About the Role:

We are looking to recruit a motivated and skilled Senior Social Worker to join our Mental Health Service, supporting an important programme of work focused on Section 117 aftercare reviews.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to improving outcomes for people with mental health needs by ensuring reviews are timely, person-centred and focused on recovery and independence. The work will include reviewing both current and historic Section 117 cases to ensure arrangements remain appropriate and proportionate.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with health partners, you will:

  • Lead and contribute to Section 117 aftercare reviews
  • Support people to maximise independence through strengths-based approaches
  • Ensure care and support arrangements are appropriate, proportionate and outcome-focused
  • Promote effective joint working across health and social care
  • You will be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and application of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act 1983, Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Human Rights Act 1998.

What will be expected from me?

  • The post is ideal for an experienced Social Worker who is confident in review work, able to think analytically, and committed to high-quality, person-centred practice. You will be part of a supportive service with a strong focus on improving systems, addressing backlog, and embedding good practice.

What can I expect?

  • A supportive management structure
  • Opportunities to influence and improve practice
  • A focus on professional development
  • The chance to be part of a positive programme of change
  • A competitive salary
  • Generous holiday entitlement with the option to buy up to 10 extra days of annual leave
  • Hybrid working (subject to role suitability)
  • Access to high-quality training programs to advance your career to the next level.
  • We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our staff. We recognise that resilient teams need good work life balance as well as supportive leadership.
  • Discounted and subsidised public transport (Arriva Bus Annual Travel Ticket, Northern Trains Limited (NTL), MetroCard).
  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and a Shared Cost Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVC) scheme providing a tax efficient way to increase our pension.
  • Great range of benefits including an Employee Assistant Programme, discounted membership to our excellent leisure facilities with free 12 weeks exercise program, discounts for a range of retail, entertainment, health and leisure providers, a cycle to work scheme, and many more
