Job Description

York Adult Learning Disability and Autism Team support adults, families and informal carers who live in the city to live as an enjoyable and independent life as possible.

We pride ourselves, on being a supportive team, with good learning opportunities, and have positive peer support networks.

We work in a strength-based way to listen to and empower individuals, identify their outcomes and explore ways of using their own strengths, informal networks and sometimes statutory services to help them achieve their goals.

We work with a wide variety of people with varying support needs so every day is different!

We are looking for someone who is positive, proactive and creative to make a difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism. A person who is compassionate about supporting people to achieve their full potential and maximise their quality of life.

This will include working with professionals from health, education and other professional networks and considering a range of options to help meet their care act eligible needs.

We operate a Hybrid model or work, with an expectation that the worker is present in the office two days per week.

In order to apply you will need a degree in Social Work and also be registered, or planning to register with Social Work England (SWE) to apply.

We are not currently licenced to sponsor employees for visas, therefore are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
