We are currently recruiting – Senior Rehabilitation Officer (Visual Impairment)

We are looking for a creative and resourceful Senior Vision Rehabilitation Specialist (ROVI) to work with us in the Community Prevention and Early Intervention Directorate of the Adult Services and Wellbeing Directorate at Calderdale Council. The Sensory team provides information, advice and support to people with significant sight loss, a hearing loss, sight and hearing loss, who are Deaf BSL users or who are Deafblind.
As a Senior ROVI you will take responsibility for your own professional practice and the development of the Sensory Team. Leadership Skills are essential to the role to ensure the sensory team remain committed, connected and engaging with local partners, people with sensory impairment and identified carers.
It is essential that you are a qualified rehabilitation worker, holding one of the profession-based qualifications available through national training establishments. You should be registered or willing to register with the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network.
We work in partnership with a variety of community-based organisations, Health and Public Health partners, to enable people to live a fulfilled life.

What we are looking for:
Ability to relate to people Your role as a Senior ROVI is to have direct contact with people, usually on a face-to-face basis. To provide person-centred rehabilitation support to adults with sight loss and duel sensory loss, enhancing independence, mobility, confidence and quality of life.
As a key part of The Sensory Team within Community Prevention and Early Intervention, you will assess needs and provide interventions that promote self -reliance and utilise Calderdale community led support.
The Senior ROVI Role also requires leadership skills, to promote professional development and wellbeing of individual team members, identify training opportunities through regular supervision.
Resourcefulness and creativity You will recognise that formal services are not the only way to achieve personal outcomes for people with sensory impairment. That connecting people to their community and environment provides resources and support.
You will need to be resourceful and creative when it comes to drawing on the strengths of people, their wider networks, as well as your local knowledge of the community assets available to problem solve and meet their requirements.
Adult Social Care Knowledge The type of person who will do well in this role will have experience and/or knowledge of the impact sensory loss can have on people in their daily lives, challenges people may face and stive for equal participation in community life.
