Job Description

We are looking for a qualified, experienced social worker to join a specialist forensic social work team based within an NHS regional secure mental health hospital, part of the South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust’s forensic care group. The team work with service users detained under the Mental Health Act in conditions of medium security.

 

You will need:

 

  • A recognised social work qualification and current SWE registration
  • Experience of working in mental health, forensic services, the criminal justice system or a related field
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong networking, negotiating and team working skills
  • Experience of partnership working with other statutory agencies and professionals
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of relevant national guidance and legislation including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act
  • Knowledge and expertise in working with people with complex needs, safeguarding adults and children
  • Excellent risk assessment, analytical and decision-making skills
  • An ability to navigate complex integrated care systems to formulate care pathways and discharge aftercare plans in partnership with other agencies and professionals
  • A strong commitment to equality, inclusion, social justice and mental health
  • Experience applying strengths-based, restorative approaches and recovery models to practice
  • The skills to work collaboratively and therapeutically with service users and families using psycho-social interventions to support mental health recovery and rehabilitation whilst balancing risk and public protection
  • An ability to work effectively within a challenging secure hospital environment as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary clinical team
