Are you a Senior Social Worker with an interest in working with people with mental health needs, as part of an integrated service?  If so, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role:

The Enhanced Team East is an integrated mental health team, where Social Workers work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.  We work with adults, between the ages of 18-65, who are experiencing significant mental health needs in the community.  We are looking for a Senior Social Worker (with or without Approved Mental Health Professional status), to join our supportive team.  This post is advertised as a full-time post (37 hours per week); however, part-time hours will be considered.  We are based at Baghill House in Pontefract.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Social Worker, your knowledge, empathy and professional curiosity will help promote wellbeing, independence and choice for the people we support.  You will work with people with complex mental health needs.  The team uses a multi-disciplinary approach in supporting the people using our service.  As a social worker in the team, you will be working directly with mental health colleagues from South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust.  A whole team approach is used to support people at times of increased need.

Using a strength-based, person-centred approach, you will have the opportunity to empower individuals to live as independently as possible, ensuring their voices are heard and their care reflects what matters to them.

We're looking for someone with:

- An interest in working with adults with mental health needs.

- Strong assessment, communication and engagement skills.

- A clear understanding of key legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983.

- A commitment to reflective practice and continual learning.

What will be expected from me?

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide social work interventions to support people with complex mental health needs to live as independently as possible.  This will include carrying out statutory responsibilities under the Care Act (2014).

In this senior role, you will:

-  Manage a caseload, in accordance with the directorate and other agency policies and procedures.

-  Be proactive in being part of a shared team approach to support people at times of increased need.

-  Work collaboratively across disciplines to ensure a cohesive, responsive service.

-   Undertake planned interventions across a variety of statutory casework.

- Complete assessments, care planning and reports as part of your statutory responsibilities.

-  Offer support and guidance to students and others in the team, as appropriate.

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Evidence of post-qualifying awards/ training.
  • Commitment to maintaining and developing professional skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to build effective, positive relationships with individuals, carers and partner agencies.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Care Act (2014), Mental Health Act (1983) and Mental Capacity Act (2005).
  • Approved Mental Health Professional status, if applicable, as a Grade 11 Social Worker.

If you have a keen interest in mental health and feel that you could be part of our team, we would love to hear from you.  You will be provided with regular management supervision and support of the wider team.  You will have the support, and opportunity, to develop in your role and the potential to train as an Approved Mental Health Professional.  We offer flexible and hybrid working, to promote staff wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance.

What can I expect?

  • A competitive salary.
  • Generous holiday entitlement with the option to buy up to 10 extra days of annual leave each year.
  • Flexible and hybrid working (subject to role suitability).
  • Outstanding professional development opportunities.
  • A wide range of tailored training.
  • Access to high-quality training programs to advance your career to the next level.
  • We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our staff. We recognise that resilient teams need good work life balance as well as supportive leadership.
  • Discounted and subsidised public transport (Arriva Bus Annual Travel Ticket, Northern Trains Limited (NTL), MetroCard).
  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and a Shared Cost Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVC) scheme providing a tax efficient way to increase our pension.
  • Great range of benefits including an Employee Assistant Programme, discounted membership to our excellent leisure facilities with free 12 weeks exercise program, discounts for a range of retail, entertainment, health and leisure providers, a cycle to work scheme, and many more.
