Make a Difference to Children and Families Would you like to work in a role where you can make a real difference to the lives of children with disabilities and their families?
We are looking for dynamic, dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Short Breaks and Support Services team. We provide short breaks for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Dis-abilities (SEND), in line with the Breaks for Carers of Disabled Children Regulations 2011.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You may be supporting a child on a one-to-one basis in the community or leading a group activity within our service. Working within Short Breaks gives you the opportunity to be part of a supportive team and contribute to shaping and developing our local offer for children and families.
We are seeking motivated Short Breaks Support Officers to support children and young people in the community and at our dedicated building, Blossom Lodge. The role requires flexibility, including working on a rota that covers evenings, every other weekend and bank holidays, which attract enhanced pay. You will support children with their personal, social, emotional, physical and health care needs. You will also help deliver creative and engaging play opportunities that support children to develop skills, confidence and independence. You should have some knowledge or experience of working with children with disabilities and a positive, resilient approach. A good standard of general education is essential, along with a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject such as childcare, health and social care or sport. You must be willing to undertake further training and work towards a Level 3 qualification if required.
In return, we offer a full induction and ongoing training to support your development. You will receive regular 1:1 supervision and be part of a supportive and inclusive team.
The role includes up to 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and staff discount schemes. For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Adam Willey, Short Breaks & Support Services Senior Officer, on 01724 407988.
Interviews to held on 18/08/26 & 19/08/26.
