ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Come and join the team here in Rotherham! Why?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time therapeutic intervention worker to join the RMBC Empower Service, to work with professionals, carers, children and young people.
This 3-day post will provide direct therapeutic interventions to families, will assess need and where appropriate, commission therapeutic interventions with funding provided by the Adoption Support Fund.
Empower Services provide dedicated specialist therapeutic services to kinship families, children who are cared for by foster carers and birth families as part of the reunification pathway. The team aims to promote a greater understanding by carers of children’s emotional and developmental health and their attachment and trauma issues. The models used include trauma and attachment-based theories such as Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, DBT, family therapy and mentalisation to name but a few.
Ideally the candidate will be trained in at least one of these methods, at least to level 1 or the equivalent and be willing to attend further training to enhance their ongoing therapeutic knowledge and understanding.
The post holder will undertake assessments of need, offer support, advice and therapeutic consultations and deliver training. The post holder will develop the support service to Rotherham’s Kinship carers – including close collaboration with our Early Help offer (Rotherham has Kinship navigators within Early Help). Experience is required in assessment, facilitating meetings with professionals/carers and leading therapeutic networks to support placements.
