ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary 12-month full time Senior Family Support Worker join the RMBC Empower Service, to work with professionals, carers, children and young people.  The post holder will lead on providing an urgent response and being proactive in their approach to support carers and families, developing early relationships and interventions, and supporting workforce from Fostering and Children in Care to achieve the right outcomes for families and children.

The post holder will work directly with families to support the Empower remit of reunification or placement stability of looked after children. They will work with parent/carers/children to provide urgent based and planned interventions, carrying out highly complex and broad ranging family assessments to formulate, plan and deliver high quality interventions.

They will work in a multi-agency forum to support the needs of children, ensuring the child’s voice is central to planning and intervention.

As a team, we provide dedicated specialist therapeutic services to kinship families, children who are cared for by foster carers and birth families as part of the reunification pathway. The team aims to promote a greater understanding by carers of children’s emotional and developmental health and their attachment and trauma issues. The models used include trauma and attachment-based theories such as Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, DBT, family therapy and mentalisation to name but a few.
