Job Description

Be part of our 2034 Vision. Lead with purpose. Shape the future of social care in Calderdale.

In Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council we like to do things differently. We are distinctive, diverse, kind, and inclusive, and we want leaders who share our Adult Services and Wellbeing 2034 Vision:

People are supported to live their largest life. We will always be kind and compassionate, creative and bold in helping people achieve their hopes and dreams. People are at the heart of all we do and they will feel valued and have an equal voice in their care and support. We will always respect people’s strengths and support them to be connected to their communities.

The role
As a Team Leader in the North Halifax Older People’s & Physical Disability Locality Team, you’ll lead a committed group of social workers, service co-ordinators, and reviewing officers. You’ll inspire excellence in practice, ensure safe and effective systems are in place, and work in partnership with local communities so that our 2034 Vision becomes reality for the people we serve.

The team works with adults aged 65+ and adults aged 18+ with physical disabilities, using strengths-based practice and Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) model to connect people to the vibrant network of creative, community-led initiatives across North Halifax. This is an opportunity to lead a supportive, well-established team where reflective practice and wellbeing are valued as much as results.

Why join us
Freedom to innovate: You’ll have the space to try new approaches if it makes life better for the people we support.

Career development: Monthly supervision, quarterly shared conversations, training opportunities, and nationally recognised management qualifications, including full support to achieve your Level 5 ILM Leadership and Management qualification.

A workplace that cares: We value diversity, promote wellbeing, and support each other. Calderdale is one of the best places to live and work in the UK, with a strong community feel.

Generous benefits: Annual leave, pension scheme, discounted leisure centre membership, public transport discounts, salary sacrifice schemes, free legal and financial advice, and more.

What we are looking for
Values Driven: You believe people should be happy, in control, connected, and as independent as possible. You champion dignity, inclusion, and fairness, and you won’t shy away from challenging situations that marginalise or exclude.

A Step-Up Leader: You might be an experienced team leader, or a skilled social worker ready for your first management role. Either way, you bring the confidence to lead, the curiosity to learn, and the determination to make a difference.

Collaborative and Creative: You work across boundaries, bring people together, and turn challenges into opportunities. You listen, adapt, and create an environment where everyone in your team contributes to collective success.

Closing Date: Sunday, 7th September 2025

Interviews: Will be held in person on Monday 15th September 2025 Princess Buildings, Princess Street, Halifax

If you’re ready to lead with values, be part of our 2034 Vision, and make a real difference in people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.
